Flat-Rate Logan Airport Transportation to the Martha's Vineyard Ferry
Car Service to the Woods Hole Ferry
Boston Logan to the Steamship Authority Terminal — 1 Cowdry Road, Woods Hole, MA
Your chauffeur drops you at the Steamship Authority passenger terminal, which the Steamship Authority lists at the GPS address 1 Cowdry Road, Woods Hole, MA 02543. Luggage comes out curbside at the terminal drop-off zone, and uniformed Steamship Authority attendants direct passengers to the boarding area and baggage staging from there.
The drive covers about 80 miles. From Logan, the route runs through the Ted Williams Tunnel to I-93 south, picks up Route 3 south through the South Shore, crosses the Cape Cod Canal at the Bourne Bridge, and follows Route 28 south through Falmouth into Woods Hole.
Off-peak the drive is about 1 hour 30 minutes. On summer Friday and Saturday afternoons, canal traffic at the Bourne Bridge can push it to 2 hours 20 minutes or more, so we build that buffer into the pickup time. Because the ferry boarding cutoff is firm, the schedule is planned backward from your sailing, not forward from the airport.
There is very little parking at the terminal itself. The Steamship Authority runs satellite parking lots in Falmouth with shuttle buses to the Woods Hole dock, and those lots fill early on summer mornings. A car service removes that whole sequence: no hunting for a lot, no shuttle wait with luggage, and no multi-day parking fee while you are on the Vineyard.
Woods Hole is the only Steamship Authority port that carries passenger vehicles to Martha's Vineyard. Vehicle reservations are required and sell out far in advance, especially in summer. Many visitors skip that entirely: the Vineyard towns are walkable and well served by island transit, so they ride as foot passengers and leave the car on the mainland. A flat-rate transfer from Logan fits that pattern — you arrive at the terminal with your bags, walk onto the boat, and pick the trip back up on the return.
Woods Hole is a working science village as much as a ferry port — home to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and the Marine Biological Laboratory — and the surrounding town of Falmouth draws summer residents and wedding parties. We serve all of it: terminal transfers for ferry passengers, and door-to-door trips to Falmouth homes, inns, and venues.
On the return, the ferry lands at the Woods Hole terminal, foot passengers walk off, and your chauffeur is waiting in the pickup area with a name sign. We track ferry arrivals and adjust for weather delays. For the connection to your flight, allow a minimum of 4 hours from ferry arrival for a domestic departure and 5 hours for international flights from Terminal E, plus about 60 minutes on summer Sundays for canal traffic.
Sedans suit one to three passengers travelling light; SUVs and vans suit families and wedding groups heading to the Vineyard with luggage and beach gear. You can see the full range on our luxury fleet page, and book the outbound and return legs together for one guaranteed flat rate. Heading to Nantucket instead? Those ferries leave from Hyannis — see our Boston to Nantucket ferry transportation page.
What is the address of the Woods Hole Steamship Authority
terminal?
The Steamship Authority lists the Woods Hole terminal GPS address as 1 Cowdry
Road, Woods Hole, MA 02543. That is your chauffeur's drop-off point.
How long is the drive from Boston Logan to Woods
Hole?
About 1 hour 30 minutes off-peak for the 80-mile trip via Route 3 and the
Bourne Bridge. Allow 2 hours 20 minutes or more on summer Friday and Saturday
afternoons.
How early should the car arrive at the
terminal?
The Steamship Authority asks passengers and vehicles to be ready to board at
least 30 minutes before departure, and recommends 45 minutes to an hour in
summer. We schedule the car to land comfortably inside that window.
Can I take a car to Martha's Vineyard from Woods
Hole?
Yes — Woods Hole is the only port that loads vehicles onto the Vineyard
ferry, but vehicle reservations are required and sell out far ahead. Many
travelers ride as foot passengers and leave the car on the mainland.
Why use a car service instead of driving and
parking?
Parking is in Falmouth satellite lots with shuttle buses to the dock, and
they fill early in summer. A car service drops you at the terminal and removes
the lot, the shuttle wait, and multi-day parking fees.
Do you offer round-trip Woods Hole ferry
transfers?
Yes — book the outbound and return legs on one reservation for a single
guaranteed flat rate.
